Search Hard

For first responders, searching is second nature. When the call comes — “Structure fire with persons trapped!” or “Amber Alert — a child missing!” — we instantly move. We steady ourselves, focus, and go to work with one mission: search hard for the lost. These are the calls we train for, the ones that define our purpose.
Often, searching for others becomes a search within us. Doing what we are made and trained to do validates who we are. When we’re called to find someone missing, we’re fulfilling our duty and living out our career purpose.
Just as searching for a lost victim is never optional for a first responder, searching for God should never be optional for a Christian. Many assume that once they are saved, the “search for God” ends, but salvation is only the beginning. God doesn’t just want to save us — He wants a relationship with us.
Scripture teaches that it is God who seeks and saves (Luke 19:10). He rescues us from darkness (Colossians 1:13) and transforms our hearts so we no longer conform to the world. As new creations, we receive renewed minds and new desires to know, love, and follow Him (Romans 12:2). Justification happens when we are saved, putting our faith in Jesus alone. He restores our
relationship with God and brings us into God’s family, but our continual daily search for God deepens our relationship with Him.
“FOR A CHRISTIAN, THE CONTINUAL SEARCH FOR DEEPER RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD NEVER ENDS.”
God desires that we seek Him continually. He wants us to know Him not only as Savior but as Lord. Searching hard for God isn’t reserved for a select few; it is a gift and calling given to all His people. As we pursue Him, we draw closer, become more like Him, and grow in sanctification.
God is not distant. He is near and wants to be found (Acts 17:27). When we draw near to Him, He promises to draw near to us (James 4:8). Searching for God will never leave us empty, because He reveals Himself to those who seek Him.
Through His Word and through prayer, He makes Himself known. When you search hard for God, you will find truth, relationship, love, and the peace that
surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
So how can we “search hard” for God daily?
Authentically seek God, not out of obligation but for relationship.
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
Make time for prayer.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)
Study the word of God daily.
“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. So that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Love and serve others.
“Above all keep loving one another, use your gifts to serve one another.” (1 Peter 4:8-10)
